Crested Butte Angler
The Upper Gunnison River has up to 25 miles of prime trout habitat with browns, rainbows, cuttbows, cutthroats, kokanee salmon, a few brookies, and some lost lake trout from the Blue Mesa Reservoir. The East and Taylor Rivers meet to form the Gunnison River at 8000 feet above sea level in the town of Almont. The Gunnison River mainly cuts through big ranches and meadows before an impressive cliff section and ultimately flowing through the big valley west of the town of Gunnison and into the largest body of water in Colorado, the Blue Mesa. Crested Butte Angler guides row drift boats and/or rafts outfitted with fishing frames and lean bars. As fly fishing guides, we work as a team and have the pulse of the Gunnison River figured out like no other guide service in Gunnison County. We are patient guides who take pride in teaching and having fun on the water!

Guides normally set up meeting time and location during the evening of the day before the trip. We like to make "game time" decisions to put our anglers in the best position for success. On the day of the trip, clients meet guides at the designated boat launch, and the guides will be rigged and ready for the day. After the trip has been completed, guides transport clients back to their vehicle. Flies and equipment are included on all trips. Clients need to bring hat, polarized sunglasses, sunblock, sun protective clothing, rain jacket, snack, fishing license, and a good attitude. Our boats have plenty of dry storage, so bring what you feel necessary for the day. Purchase a float trip
